The rumors have been circulating for some time, but it was finally confirmed earlier this month.  According to Scifimoviepage.com, acclaimed X-Men director Bryan Singer will helm a big screen remake of Battlestar Galactica, due out sometime in 2011.  But if you’re expecting a spin-off or big-screen version of the recent hit Syfy series, forget it.  The new film will be a remake of the original ‘70s TV series, right down to the characters and situations.  On the downside, we may have to deal with some of the cheesiness that was part of that series (yes, it is a classic, but come on, admit it…).  On the upside, we’ll get to see the robotic Cylons in all their robotic, chrome-plated glory (done in CGI, of course), right down to that classic line, “By your command…”
