Star Wars has played an integral role in shaping a lot of people’s lives. Whether your moral compass is secretly guided by the Force, or you like wearing storm trooper gear while you cook breakfast, the cultural phenomenon sparked back ing 1977 is as understood by the masses as it is inexplicable. Of course, I’m talking about episodes 4 through 6. Only the profoundly ignorant would hold the later three prequels in the same regard as the famed original trilogy. By and large, the newer films were seen as digitally shellacked kids flicks that had overemphasized the (now dated) action and pushed the beloved mythology that molded millions of people’s lives to the background .
Well, the people are fighting back. ‘The People vs. George Lucas‘ is a documentary that examines the fine line between love and hate that mega-fans have been walking ever since Jar-Jar Binks opened his mouth back in 1999. It’s also a nod to the Youtube generation that Lucas (like just about every other technical advent) is credited with being the inspiration for. Indeed, Mr. Lucas has accomplished some remarkable feats in his career, but fans are in the right to finally probe him about some of his latest creative decisions concerning the most beloved franchise of all time. Thanks to the folks at Wired for great article examining the potential impact of the doc, along with trailer for the film.
